Celebrating M’s Birthday with Raising Malawi
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frRaising Malawi website published this email from executive director Philippe van den Bossche with a special message for Madonna’s birthday:
    Dear Friend, www.absolumentmadonna.fr
Today is Madonna’s birthday - and you can help her celebrate.
It was just over seven years ago that Madonna decided to shine a spotlight on a little-known African country named Malawi. Since then, she has given so much of herself to this cause, and her life has taken on a new purpose.
Madonna’s dedication to the 2 million orphaned and vulnerable children of Malawi has inspired me to change my life in so many ways. So this year, for her birthday, I wanted to honor her by saying, “Thank you.”
Join me in sharing a birthday message with Madonna now:
    www.raisingmalawi.org/Madonna-birthday
We are currently developing a project very close to Madonna’s heart - the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. As we laid the first bricks at the academy just months ago, Madonna said how much it meant to her that what started as a personal endeavor has captured the hearts of so many of you around the world.
Your care for the children of Malawi has already been a tremendous gift to Madonna. I know the one thing that would make her happiest on her birthday would be to hear why you share her commitment to Raising Malawi.
Celebrate Madonna’s birthday by sharing a message now:

Young actress wins role in Madonna film
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frAt just ten years old, little Jasmine Hancock recently filmed an appearance in the film W.E., directed by Madonna. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
Jasmine’s mother Julie Hancock, of Covingham, says she is delighted with her daughter’s success.
    “I’m very proud.
Jasmine is a lot more confident than me and doesn’t get nervous at all.
She filmed some scenes which were directed by Madonna for the new film - in one of the scenes she is listening to the radio and in another she plays a miner’s child.
It was great meeting Madonna, she was fabulous and really lovely, so we weren’t nervous at all.
She was very professional and concentrating very hard on what she was doing and she chatted to the girls about her little boy, she was brilliant.
Jasmine is only young but she really likes Madonna, she think she is so talented because she writes all her own music.”

Last week, UK newspaper Daily Mail published some quotes about Madonna from Rupert Everett’s autobiography like it’s some fresh news. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
Those were already mentioned on AbMad, on Dec 2009!
    Here and here...
    ***
Many Madonna fansites are mentioning an increase of Macy’s sales during July…
Like before the Material Girl line went instore…
    Relevance?
    ***
It seems even newspapers have been hit by the financial crisis…
Italian newspaper La Stampa mentions that Arthur Fogel would have said that…
“In 2012, Madonna will return with new disc.”
We simply don’t believe any of it.
Guy Oseary said that Madonna will be back to record a new album right after she finishes shooting her movie, so a fall 2011 release is much more likely.
    Another BS rumour..
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã claims that Live Nation has confirmed Madonna will be touring in 2011, without a new album.
    ***
According to Falguni and Shane Peacock, Madonna is to be wearing a special dress made by the Indian designers, for her upcoming birthday
“Yes, we are doing a dress for Madonna. We were approached by her stylist, who wanted us to design the dresses in black, which is also Madonna’s favourite colour,”
    ***
Madonna’s new line for teens has many in an uproar.
She has been accused of ’sexualizing’ teenage girls.
Professionals believe these images can lead to anorexia and depression.
    It’s called fashion, people!
    ***
Madonna has borrowed Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich’s brand new superyacht while filming W.E., in the South of France.

    ***
English television presenter Anthea Turner did her “Sorry” version of Madonna in a leotard during her Confessions days. She said…
“I’m getting quite comfortable dressing up as Madonna. I think she’s amazing and it’s great to be able to try on someone else’s wardrobe for a day.”

    ***
M.I.A is a huge Madonna fan and has probably been inspired by her for the teasers of her upcoming single XXXO.
The teasers feature some clips from “Green Pink Caviar” by Marilyn Minter, which have been used by Madonna during her Sticky & Sweet Tour 2009 for the Candy Shop backdrop.

CNN is currently having a poll where you can vote for your top five most iconic musicians.
Of course, Madonna is one of the candidates and here’s what they write:
The most influential female artist and performer of the past quarter-century, Madonna Louise Ciccone has consistently kept pace with popular culture through constant reinvention and sheer nous. Lady Gaga, producers of blonde hair dye, tabloid editors - you all owe her big time.
    To vote…

Liz Smith dishes with Madonna about her new project
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frLiz Smith recently published a video related to a conversation she had with Madonna about her new movie…
    Here’s the content… www.absolumentmadonna.fr
I told you a long time ago, that Madonna was going to write and direct a movie of her own called W.E., which means Wallis and Edward. It’s about the American Wallis Simpson who married Edward VIII and he advocated from the British thrown because of her. And I also told you that Madonna was making the Wallis Simpson character very sympathetic, which enrages the British. They’re just furious.
Well, now Madonna is already in London shooting this film.
So, I contacted her and asked her a few questions and I want to read you her reply.
“Oh my God, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. All cylinders of my brain are working 24/7. Non stop work.
Decisions, dreaming, scheming, channeling. I hope I get it right.
    Thanks for asking.”
Well, I also asked her what Madonna thinks about Lady Gaga’s new video. This is a video that looked very much like the five videos Madonna has made.
Well she didn’t comment, she didn’t answer me.
    No trashing fellow artists.
Madonna is really getting grown up.

Macy’s delivered a July fireworks show for investors yesterday – with a little help from Madonna.
The nation’s biggest department store reported a better-than- expected 7.3-percent increase in July same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year.
While other retailers, including rival JC Penney, were singing the back-to-school blues with sluggish monthly sales reports, Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren said the season is “off to a great start.”
Lundgren cited the “phenomenal launch” of the new “Material Girl” fashion line, designed by Madonna and her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes. Aimed at teenage girls, the 1980s-inspired line will include clothing, shoes, handbags and jewelry.
On Tuesday, Macy’s launched the collection at the company’s flagship store on Herald Square with a performance by pop star Taylor Momsen, who drew throngs of girls dressed up like Madonna. Macy’s shares yesterday rose 34 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $19.78.

Madonna’s Material Girl Line Finally at Macy’s!
    by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.fr
The juniors clothing line designed by Madonna and daughter Lourdes, has hit Macy’s stores and Macys.com, today, and it was a huge success.
Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet thinks Madonna is wily to focus on juniors rather than a line for women her own age, something Bendet says invariably turns out “a little cheesy, a little tacky.”
“I’m usually kind of like, ‘Oh, God, there’s another celebrity trying to do another clothing line,” But what Madonna’s doing for a younger market is actually really brilliant and new.”
But the fashion line didn’t only get rave reviews…
Celebrity stylist and author of “The Shopping Diet”, Phillip Bloch predict that the line would be commercially successful, but said he was left feeling slightly “underwhelmed” by the designs…
“The name of the line is fantastic and I think it will sell. There are some good pieces but it’s a bit one-note. She did not give us what we thought we were going to get when the line was announced. I thought we would see versions of some of her older iconic looks. I’m surprised Madonna’s collection is not more Madonna. It’s slightly reminiscent of her “Desperately Seeking Susan” years, but it is very middle of the road, which is interesting for someone who is known for constantly pushing the envelope. The target audience was a smart move, since most 30-somethings are past the point of wanting to dress like Madonna in the Material Girl years.”
17-year-old Jersey City blogger Arabelle Sicardi, the Fashion Pirates writer (whose blog scores 10,000 daily hits) says…
“Madonna is still amazing and everyone should respect her, but it’s the time of Lady Gaga. I love Madonna, but I wasn’t blown away with it. It’s typical girly things that you can find at Forever 21. Honestly, I don’t know a lot of teens that talk about shopping at Macy’s and stuff.”
Louise Roe, a fashion expert on youth-aimed reality shows such as MTV’s “The City, explained…
“This generation knows everything there is to know about Lourdes and probably a lot less about Madonna. The moms who are shopping for their kids will probably connect more to the Madonna thing.”
Of course, Macy’s is urgent to change that. In an effort to catch “fast fashion” retailers like Forever 21, H&M and Zara, the store is attempting something it’s never tried in its 152 years: stocking fresh Material Girl pieces on a daily basis at prices that undercut most of their other junior’s lines. Most of the MG collection - including clothes, shoes, bags and jewelry - retails between $12 and $40, mirroring Forever’s price points.
The Macy’s Herald Square location has sacrificed 4,000 square feet of real estate for the line, and hosted appearances by Momsen today, and Madonna and Lola on Sept. 22.
Check out pictures from the launch of the line and a Madonna outtake from the marketing photoshoot.

Alex Rodriguez: “Madonna is an amazing entertainer”
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frAlex Rodriguez gave an interview to Details Magazine, setting the record straight about his relationship with Madonna and how they first met… www.absolumentmadonna.fr
    “Well, we’re friends.
    She’s an amazing entertainer.
And it’s been amazing how she’s been able to stay on top for three decades.
I have a lot of respect for her.
She’s smart, passionate about everything she does.
If there ever was any situation, she’s a great ear to have.
I met her about 12 years ago in Miami, believe it or not...
I was trying to buy her house, and I couldn’t afford it.”

    Lola is a star
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frWhile most 13-year-olds were home doing homework, Lourdes Leon aka Lola is walking red carpets, photographed everywhere she goes and she even design fashion lines for Macy’s…
Known for her inventive looks, Lourdes is a burgeoning style icon whom even her fellow contemporaries appreciate, including her proud and famous parents…
Lourdes’ father, Carlos Leon gave an interview to the New York Post.
He talks about Lola like a proud father… www.absolumentmadonna.fr
“She’s 100 percent the creative force of Material Girl.
She knew exactly what she wanted. She’s a trendsetter that draws from all different things to put together a look.
She’s into different cultures and brings that into her style.
She gets to travel around the world and experience different cultures.
I think she takes a little bit from each culture, myself and, of course, her mom, and makes it her own. She’s very creative in that way - putting colors together and stuff I would never even think about. She has that natural ability.”
Teen Vogue fashion news director Jane Keltner de Valle explained…
“Our readers are obsessed with Lourdes’ style.
She’s gorgeous, she’s cool, she’s got her finger on her pulse, she has the same kind of rebellious spirit as her mother, but she has her own voice as well.”
Rob Smith, Macy’s executive vice president for marketing, also gave his point of view on Lola and meeting Madonna…
“She has a stronger point of view than Madonna does, if you can believe it.
It’s kind of like, ‘That skirt’s a little too short.’ Or, we’re going through some of the things Lola brought in from her closet and Madonna goes, ‘Wait a second, that’s mine!’
I have to be honest, in the beginning, I was a little nervous (to meet Madonna)
I remember walking in and seeing Madonna and thinking, be cool man, you’ve waited like 25 years for this to happen!”
