Stuart Price: Madonna wants success in the US
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frStuart Price is promoting Kylie Minogue’s forthcoming album, Aphrodite which he produced. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
He recently gave an interview to Attitude Magazine explaining the probable reason why Madonna stopped working with him after her Confessions on a Dance Floor album.
    He explained…
“Madonna felt that Confessions on a Dance Floor hadn’t been a success in the US.
Warner records were also saying the same thing. She needed that voice that was telling her to do that and she looked at what was really successful in the US and although I think it was a little late in the curve, she worked with Timbaland and Pharrell.”

Apparently celebrity fitness trainer Tracy Anderson does not miss working with Madonna
Anderson, who is credited with helping Madonna to tone the body she flaunted during her “Sticky and Sweet” tour, told the UK’s Star… www.absolumentmadonna.fr
“Gone are the days I give myself to a celebrity.
Madonna was my priority for three years but that’s not why I set out to do this.
Now I have a long list of people who I design [fitness programs] for, but my time is now spent on my company.
    I can’t just be training a celebrity.
I didn’t do 11 years of research and development for that.”
Anderson also claimed that tabloid reports of discord between her and the pop queen were completely false, insisting that she chose to stop working with the pop megastar to have more time for her family.

Max Schneider: Madonna treated me with respect
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frMax Schneider, the 17-year-old who appears with Madonna in the new Dolce & Gabbana campaign, gave an interview to Models.com.
He talked about Madonna and his participation in the fall 2010 campaign, which he shot in Harlem with Madonna in April. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
“It was very comfortable. She walked in the room, and I’m a big Madonna fan so I was expecting it to be nervewracking but she walked in and it was totally fine.
I felt like her son for the day, I was supposed to be her son in the ad campaign actually.
She was just so nice to me, it wasn’t like I was some random kid, she really treated me with respect and I truly respected her for that.
She’s such a superstar but she treats you as though you’re on the same level.
It was really incredible and she’s just a very nice, sweet person.
    I was pleasantly surprised.”

    Mother, Daughter and Fashion…
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frPromoting ‘Material Girl’, her forthcoming fashion line for Macy’s, Madonna is adamant she is a “typical mother” when it comes to dealing with her daughter Lourdes - she’s constantly telling the teenager to wear longer skirts and less make-up.
    She says…
“I usually tell her to take off her three-inch or six-inch platforms and pull her skirt down just a little bit and take off some of the black eye make-up around her eyes.
She does have amazing style, but I am the typical mother where I say, ‘Oh my God, you can’t go to school dressed like that’. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
I always have two reactions when Lola comes into my room with an outfit on. One is, ‘Oh my God, she looks amazing, what incredible style.’ And then my second reaction is, ‘She’s dressed completely inappropriately for school’.
So I have to, like, think with two brains.”
As for the Material Girl line, Lola keeps updating her blog giving her latest fashion advice while promoting the collection…

    The WE controversy!
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frNews about Madonna’s upcoming movie, WE…
Natalie Dormer, 28, has been casted to portray Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother in a film about the Edward VIII abdication crisis.
According to English newspaper the Telegraph, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother is to be subjected to a radical and controversial portrayal by Madonna.
She is to be portrayed as a highly negative influence in W.E., which is sympathetic to Wallis Simpson, the twice-divorced American socialite, who caused a constitutional dilemma when the king declared his desire to marry her.
    Natalie Dormer explained…
“This country tends to remember the Queen Mother as a rather wrinkly 97 year-old, but I am playing her when she was quite an enchanting, engaging twenty and thirtysomething.
She was quite a savage and savvy game player. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
She never really spoke in public - she left it up to her husband, the king, and, therefore, even if she was a dominant force in the marriage, and a rock and forward thinker, she always let the king take the lead.
She never took any credit for it.”
Madonna’s film has already undergone several changes. The latest is that American actress Margo Stilley has left.
    She told Britain’s Sunday Telegraph…
“I had the role, but we had artistic differences.
    She [Madonna] is really something.
I wish the cast luck because they are all really talented.”
The film, which stars Abbie Cornish and James D’Arcy, is slated for a 2011 release.

Actress Margo Stilley has quit work on Madonna’s upcoming film W.E. over “artistic differences”.
The 9 Songs star had signed up to play Lady Thelma Furness in the new movie which tells the story of King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne after falling in love with American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
The Material Girl will take the director’s chair for the second time to tell the story of the former monarch, but she is now looking for a new star to take over Stilley’s role after the actress dropped out.
Stilley tells the Sunday Telegraph, “I had the role, but we had artistic differences. She (Madonna) is really something. I wish the cast luck because they are all really talented.”
The film, which stars Abbie Cornish and James D’Arcy, is slated for a 2011 release.

WWD just released the first images of the Material Girl collection, which Lourdes Leon helped style and were photographed last month in a studio and on the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The centerpiece of the marketing campaign supporting the launch is not Madonna, but a young television actress and singer who’s identity has not yet been revealed. Her identity will be revealed in the coming weeks closer to the launch date.
    Madonna told WWD: www.absolumentmadonna.fr
“It’s not complicated. It’s dressing in layers.
It’s not looking like you took too much time thinking about what you’re wearing.
She’s been coming to meetings pretty much from the very beginning.
My role was really to make sure we were all going in the right
direction and it was a line that I could stand behind and be proud of
and feel good about - and one that she could also feel represented
her. I really like the way Lola dresses, and I think this line is
absolutely an extension of her taste.”
Asked to sum up the Material Girl customer, Madonna described her in this way:
“A Material Girl is a girl that is interested in fashion and
interested in music and interested in fun.
[she has] a sense of humor [and] is an adventurous human being.”

Antonio Banderas : Nothing happened, never ever!
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frAntonio Banderas has given some interviews to promote the movie Shrek Forever After which will be released on July 2. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
He was asked some questions about Madonna and the crush she had on him during the filming of her 1991 documentary film, In Bed With Madonna.
But according to the Spanish actor, the feelings were not reciprocated…
“Yeah, she says these things - she didn’t repeat it to me; it could have been dangerous, depending on how I would have been that day.
    Nothing happened - never ever.
When I first met Madonna, she was a star on her Blond Ambition tour and I was a working actor who paid to see her.
We worked together in Evita and she was absolutely committed to her character. Even now, I still find it weird.
I saw her at the Oscars. She invited us to go to her house for a party - you should have seen Robert De Niro, Mick Jagger and me all doing the conga!”

Who’s the face of Material Girl?
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frMacy’s has just launched their official ‘Material Girl’ website, along with a blog by Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
    Lola writes:
Helluuur thurrrr, I’m Lola and this is my first blog entry so it’s kind of like ummmm….
I’m just going to use this blog entry to tell y’all a little bit about myself. I’m 13 and I’ll be 14 in October, so I can’t wait for that because I am FINALLY allowed to dye my hair… THANK YOU MOTHER!! My favvvv color is black (just because it goes with everything) and my least favorite color is brown (because it resembles the color of something QUITE gross).
I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts… You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It’s kinda nerdy but I love it. And the 80’s are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl…HELLO! It’s like 80’s themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah. I’m still in love with brogues or as some people call them “oxford shoes”. I haven’t found a good sandal so I’m on like a search right now.
Along with the launch of the new site, you can also join the ‘Meet the original Material Girl, Madonna’ competition in the hopes of winning a trip for 4 to New York and meeting Madonna on September 22nd. A small disclaimer: sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the contiguous United States and the District of Columbia.
The final question: Who’s the face of Material Girl?

    #10 Madonna
The Material Girl isn’t quite ready to cede her spot in pop music’s hierarchy to Lady Gaga or Britney Spears just yet. The 52-year-old singer had the fourth highest-grossing tour of 2009, bringing in $6 million a night and $138 million overall. An episode of the Fox hit sitcom Glee, which featured cast members singing several of her songs, added to her already high profile and cushioned her significant earnings from publishing royalties.

Susan Seidelman recalls Desperately Seeking Susan
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frLos Angeles Film Festival: Susan Seidelman recalls making ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’
The Los Angeles Film Festival is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Seidelman’s best-known film, the delightful 1985 romantic comedy “Desperately Seeking Susan,” which marked Madonna’s first starring role in a studio feature film.
In a recent interview, Seidelman recalled that Madonna hadn’t hit it big yet when she was cast. But by the time the film was released, she had become the Material Girl.
“I had heard about Madonna. She lived in my neighborhood.
By the time we hit the end of the shoot, her ‘Like a Virgin’ album was just released and suddenly she was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and there was this huge avalanche of attention towards her.
Would it work for us or against us? www.absolumentmadonna.fr
Ultimately, the movie had to stand up for itself. I think for whatever reason, it caught the zeitgeist of the time. I think that is what people responded to.”

    Interview with Max Schneider
by ZaCK, www.absolumentmadonna.frMax Schneider gave an interview to Swide Magazine about the shooting of the Dolce&Gabbana AW10 campaign with Madonna in New York last May.
Not only is he modelling but he also released his first album last month “First encounters”. www.absolumentmadonna.fr
He was lucky enough to be selected to pose with Madonna in front of Steven Klein’s camera for the Dolce&Gabbana AW10 womenswear campaign.
Swide - How did it all happen (the agency, the contract with Dolce & Gabbana for their AW10 campaign...)?
Max Schneider - A while ago, the talent group ‘A Street Cat Named Desire’ (ASCND) approached me for some editorial works. However, these projects did not work out for me so ASCND continued to search for other opportunities. Earlier this year, ASCND contacted me to work on a Dolce & Gabbana advertising campaign featuring Madonna and directed by Stephen Klein. From then, everything went very fast. I attended the casting on a Friday, was selected and got on the set the following Wednesday. I was told that I have been chosen by Madonna, herself, which was surreal to me.
Swide - What will you remember from this experience?
Max Schneider - I felt very relaxed and comfortable being around Madonna. She made me feel completely at ease. Domenico (Dolce) helped me a lot by supporting me and telling me that I was a “very nice actor”. The whole team was very professional.
