Just last month Madonna revealed her wish for daughter Lourdes to dress more conservatively.
But the strong-willed 13-year-old clearly has no intention of taking styling tip from her famous mum.
With her ripped tights, clumpy boots and biker jacket, Lourdes - who has recently enrolled in acting school - looked anything but conservative.
But her funky outfit could easily have been lifted from her mum's Eighties wardrobe.
Madonna - elegant in a black trench coat with puffball shoulders - and her daughter were both guests at the second annual Bent On Learning benefit.
The charity offers instruction in yoga and meditation to young people in New York City as a means of reducing stress and improving concentration, self-esteem and overall health.
It's obviously a cause that's close to Madonna's heart. She maintains her impressive physique with the help of yoga, and has been a self-confessed addict of the Ashtanta discipline ever since Sting invited her to sit in on a session with him.
The singer also credits yoga with giving her a healthy mind and soul. "I remember that I couldn't sit still for a second. I was always on the move. I was often pretty aggressive, wild and unpredictable, but all that's changed," she said.
Other yoga-loving stars at the event included Madonna's pal Gywneth Paltrow - fresh from the Iron Man 2 premiere - and Heather Graham. (source: Hello Magazine)

"My job on stage is to make someone else look good, which is the hardest part. But while Madonna is tough on the job, she is laid back in real life and a very kind person with a good heart.
Very few people are that close to her, but as soon as she trusts you, she is even more demanding.
I don’t consider myself an employee, I'm a friend and someone she knows is talented enough to handle the job."

Madonna tours dancer and choreographer Steve Nestar, who's spending a day with final-year dance students at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, sharing some of the moves he has performed with the Queen of Pop since 2005, quoted from an article by the Liverpool Daily Post.

Tom Munro’s new book is chock-full of celebrity portraits: Jennifer Lopez, Dustin Hoffman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Johnny Depp, Ashton Kutcher. But it’s Madonna that he seems most smitten with: Madge is on the cover, scattered throughout the book, and even wrote the foreword. Her poetic summation of the photographer’s art? “To have your picture taken by Tom Munro / Is kind of like smoking a bubblegum cigarette. / You can strike a pose, look cool / Get all of the sweetness, / And not suffer any side effects.”
Getting Madonna to write your introduction is pretty major. What is it like to work with her? When did you meet, and how did you become such close collaborators?
I first met Madonna on an editorial shoot for Elle. I think Madonna was keen to work with me as I had worked with her stylist Arianne Phillips before, and my ex-boss Steven Meisel put in a good word for me. Working with Madonna is really inspiring and a privilege. It’s rare to work with someone who is so driven, who brings so much to the creative process. After the shoot, Madonna asked if I would be interested in collaborating on her music video “Give It to Me.” This was my first introduction to film and I jumped at the opportunity. We did another video, “Die Another Day,” and I shot the tour book for Sticky and Sweet.
Also I had been involved with a Charity in Kenya called MEAK (Medical and Education Aid for Kenya) and knew of Madonna’s charity work in Malawi, so I asked Madonna if I could tag along on one of her visits to Africa. What she is doing there is quite extensive. It was a wonderful and moving experience to go with her, so I asked Madonna if I could list her charity as one of the beneficiaries of the book, along with MEAK.
Finally, I know I could never ask a photographer to pick just one, but who are some of your favorite subjects?
Johnny Depp, because he was the first celebrity I ever shot. He looked so cool when he walked in the studio I shot him just as he was. And then there’s Madonna, for so many reasons, not least of all because she’s such a wonderful and passionate person. Dustin Hoffman was undoubtedly one of the most memorable.

Advocate.com have published a clip that just looks like an outtake from the shooting of the Vogue video. Their sources say it is from an unreleased Nike commercial:
The clip finds the Madonna making fun of her late ‘80s Pepsi scandal. In the video footage Madonna has her arms covering her bare chest, looks at the camera smiling, and says, 'I wear what I want and I do what I want. Ask Pepsi.'
With the last remark, the entertainer references the 1989 controversy, in which she was paid a then-record $5 million as part of an endorsement deal, that included the filming of a commercial for the soft drink. The deal was scrapped by Pepsi executives due to threats of protests from right-wing Christian groups, such as the American Family Association, due to perceived sacrilege in her 'Like A Prayer' video, now considered one of the creative high points of Madonna’s storied career. The singer was allowed to keep the $5 million and her commercial aired only once on network television.

Thumbs way up from Madonna - and Lourdes, too!
The Material Girl caught a sneak peek the upcoming 'Power of Madonna' episode of Fox's Glee, in which McKinley High's Glee Club reinterprets Madonna's classic songs of female empowerment.
Madonna, 51, tells UsMagazine.com exclusively what she thought of the tribute:
'I thought the Madonna episode of Glee was brilliant on every level. The dialogue and the entire script was genius. I completely appreciated the layers of irony, especially when all those macho boys sang 'What It Feels Like For A Girl.' I also loved the fantastic performances of 'Vogue,' 'Express Yourself' and all the messages about the boys being respectful to girls.'
'The entire cast was amazing. They're all so talented. I especially loved Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and Kurt Hummel's (Chris Colfer) characters. [show creator] Ryan Murphy did a great job bringing all these elements together. Lola loved the show too. I wish I went to a high school like that....If only.'
'The Power of Madonna' episode of Glee airs this Tuesday on Fox.

“I was an hour-and-a-half late for an interview with her in New York when she was just starting out and when I walked in I said to someone: “Who the F is Madonna, anyway?.
“Madonna emerged from round the corner and said to me: “Who the F are you?’.”
When the cameras started rolling, Madonna shot Molly down with a one-word answer to his first question.
“So I decided to ask her again: “Who the F are you?’ She laughed and from then on we became friends,” Meldrum said.
The Countdown host played a hand in catapulting Madonna’s first song Holiday to the top of the Australian charts by inviting her to perform on the show just three weeks later.

She jets off to Africa next Monday with her other kids Lourdes, 14, and Rocco, ten.
The source added: “She promised to take them back to their homeland. She sees it as vital they understand their roots.
“Mercy’s meeting with her family will be particularly emotional as it’s the first time she’s seen them since last summer.”

David Guetta has claimed that Madonna is “sweet”.
The producer, who worked with Madonna on some songs, explained that he had been nervous before meeting her.
“Madonna really is the sweetest person,” he told the News of the World.
“I was totally paranoid before I met her because of all the stuff that everyone says but she is really very normal. We spoke about life, love and our children. I was completely seduced.”

Villagers serenaded US pop star Madonna late Thursday at an orphanage she bankrolls that caters for 8 000 orphans in impoverished Malawi.
A local band and a choir sang songs praising Madonna as she visited the centre in Namitete, 50 kilometres from Malawi’s administrative capital Lilongwe.
She was accompanied by her biological daughter Lourdes and Mercy ‘Chifundo’ James, who was adopted by Madonna last year from the poor southern African nation.
Yacinta Chapomba, director of the Consol homes orphanage centre which is financed by Madonna, said the villagers view the pop diva as their mother for constructing the centre which is complete with a 2 000 capacity hall.
“We are grateful to you for your kind gesture,” she told Madonna. “The people of this area take you as their mother.”
About 8 000 orphans and vulnerable children come to the centre to learn, get fed and clothed. Some old men and women also come here to eat lunch.
Madonna, who arrived on Monday to lay the first brick for a $15-million academy she is building in Malawi, was expected to leave on Friday.

Pop singer Madonna has taken her adopted son David to visit his former orphanage in central Malawi.
Chants of “welcome home, David!” and “we love you, David!” could be heard from inside the Home Of Hope as the four-year-old and his mother arrived.
Journalists were barred from the reunion, which took place during Madonna’s week-long stay in Malawi.
But the head of the orphanage said Madonna did not want to break David’s “emotional attachment” to the home.
“David spent most of his first days on earth here,” Lucy Chipeta told the BBC. “We are delighted to have him back.”
“We have preserved his room including his crib,” she added.
As Madonna engaged in discussions with the orphanage’s directors, David and his older sister Lourdes played with the young residents.
However, the four-year-old’s biological father, Yohane Banda, was nowhere to be seen.
Chipeta refused to comment on why he had not attended.
Madonna, in Malawi since Monday, is scheduled to leave the southern African country on Friday.
The pop star, 51, funds six orphanages through her Raising Malawi charity and is setting up a school for girls on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Lilongwe.

US pop star Madonna on Tuesday laid the first brick at the $15 million (11 million euro) girls’ academy that she is building in Malawi, promising to bring quality education to young girls.
The singer and actress laid a stone with an inscription “Raising Malawi Academy for Girls” and the motto, Dare to Dream.
“It has always been my dream to train women leaders who can help develop the country,” Madonna said during the event.
The colourful ceremony in Chinkhota village, some 15km (nine miles) from the capital Lilongwe, was attended by education officials and curious villagers.
“I grew up as a poor girl with my mother, I had no chance for good education,” Madonna said.
“It is my aim to see Malawian girls get the right education,” she added.
The pop star was accompanied by her biological daughter Lourdes and her two other children, whom she adopted in Malawi.
Madonna, who funds several initiatives in the southern African country, broke ground and planted a tree in October last year for the school, which will admit 500 girls from poor backgrounds.

Madonna today visited Gumulira, a Millennium Village of approximately 5000 people in rural central Malawi. Raising Malawi, an organization co-founded by Madonna, has been a partner in the Millennium Villages project in Gumulira since its inception in 2006. Madonna was joined in Gumulira by Hans Vestberg, President & CEO of Ericsson, and Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, the director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University and co-founder of Millennium Promise.
When the Millennium Villages project in Gumulira was launched, the area was beset by a number of complex challenges. Food insecurity was high due to limited access to specialized seed and fertilizers. Limited access to medical services, classrooms and school supplies, and clean water were pervasive.
“In the space of just a few years, Gumulira has made major gains in food security, health services, education, and income-generation,” said Millennium Promise CEO John W. McArthur. “We are incredibly grateful to Madonna and Raising Malawi for their partnership in making this progress possible, and their broader leadership in helping to highlight the dramatic and rapid inroads that can be made against extreme poverty.”
Today, the Millennium Villages reach nearly 500,000 people across 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, and the partner communities in each country are registering a cross-section of major improvements. To learn more about the progress being made and the evolving priorities in Gumulira and throughout the Millennium Villages, visit www.millenniumpromise.org.
