Guy Ritchie has described his ex-wife Madonna as “a perfectly good” screen actress.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, the Sherlock Holmes director suggested that cinema-goers are unable to separate the pop icon’s off-screen image from the characters she plays in movies.
“If you ask me, I think she’s all right,” he said of Madonna’s acting ability. “I think she’s perfectly good. I just don’t think people can get her persona out of the way.”
Ritchie also defended his 2002 movie Swept Away, which starred Madonna and was panned by critics, claiming that he treated the subject material in an “ironic” way.
“The whole thing is supposed to be ironic,” he commented. “It’s about a man that hits a woman, and at the same time, it was her. There were all sorts of irony. If you ask me, everything about it was rather interesting, but it was such a feral relationship between a man and woman and you just can’t get away with that in contemporary society.”

Any truth to the rumours about working with Madonna again?
There is always speculation about that and people would like it. You know, I send her tracks and sometimes she’s keen … I sent her a track when she was doing the best of and she was very keen and then she realised, and it ticked me off a bit actually, that Finley Quaye had done a version of it previously and she didn’t really want anything that had been done before so I missed my chance. Would I do another project with her? I’d do it but I don’t miss the stress of it. She doesn’t half push the stress button.
When you’re DJing do you have a song you always play?
I always want to play Music by Madonna. It’s almost like a get out of jail free card.

The cast and crew of musical movie Nine had just as much fun behind the scenes as they did on screen, according to Penelope Cruz.
The Spanish actress says she had a novel way of making sure they were all on song.
“I tried to take everybody to karaoke. We were planning it and then it didn’t happen,” said the 35-year-old.
She added: “Most of us went to a concert together to see Madonna and that was really inspiring and really beautiful.”

After working with him on her Drowned World Tour and Re-Invention Tour, Madonna teamed up with Stuart Price (aka Jacques Lu Cont) to produce her album Confessions On A Dance Floor. Pretty soon they knew they wanted to make a full-on dance record. No ballads, no messages, all dance. The result was a sound, described by Stuart as 'future disco' and it's 'where pop meets dance'. The 12 delicious tunes of pure 'unapologetic dance music' are all mixed together as one DJ set. As Madonna said: "I want people to jump out of their seats."

Originally, Madonna planned to make most of the album with Mirwais, but she got a better vibe with Stuart Price. When Hung Up was written, Madonna was convinced to do an all-dance record. She did keep (and rework) two tracks from the Mirwais collaboration though: Future Lovers and Let It Will Be. Brother-in-law Joe Henry, who also wrote the original version for Don't Tell Me, joined the writers team for Jump. Madonna also worked with a lot of Swedes on the album; Swedish duo Bloodshy & Avant worked on How High and Like It Or Not, while Bagge & Peer did the original production of Get Together. Another Swedish nod: for the first single Hung Up, Madonna borrowed a sample from Abba's 'Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)'. The video for that single is directed by Swedish Johann Renck (see also Nothing Really Matters).

The album was released worldwide on November 14th, 2005 (some regions on the 11th, 15th or 16th). On the 15th it also became available on iTunes in both a mixed version (like the disc) and a version with separate tracks. Both versions were also available in a DeLuxe package, including the Hung Up video. ICON members received a bonus track called Super Pop. A limited edition was released on December 13th, 2005, containing a 40 page picture book, 80 page blank journal book, fanclub membership and a bonus track called Fighting Spirit.

The release of the album and the first single was promoted by a never-seen marketing campaign. Hung Up featured in a commercial for the Motorola ROKR mobile phone (which featured Madonna herself as well) and was later available as ring tone. Madonna signed a deal with iTunes, which made available her entire back catalog. Another deal was made with MTV, who previewed the new material and who also screened the documentary I'm Going To Tell You A Secret. Subsequently, Madonna performed Hung Up live on the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon. That was the kick-off for a promo tour, including several TV shows and club appearances.

Hung Up immediately became a smash #1 hit all over the world, including Australia, Canada and most of Europe. Follow-up singles were Sorry (which was also a huge hit around the world), Get Together and Jump (with moderate success). The latter has a track as B-single from the recording sessions with Stuart that didn't make the album, called History. Madonna also earned four consecutive #1s on the Hot Dance / Club Play. Confessions On A Dance Floor received a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Electronic / Dance Album.

The album sold 350,000 copies in its first week in the US and 1,2 million copies worldwide. It reached #1 in 41 countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, UK (her 9th #1; certified 4 times Platinum in January 2007) and US (her 6th #1; certified Platinum in December 2005). Worldwide sales already passed 8 million copies.

As the final part of her contract with Warner Music, Madonna released a greatest hits album, titled Celebration, in September 2009. The release date differed in territories, most European countries like Italy, Netherlands, Belgium or Hungary got it first, on the 18th, then the UK followed on the 21st, while the US kept the originally scheduled date, September 29th.
This double disc compilation includes 34 hits that changed the world, covering three decades of Madonna music in remastered form, picked by Madonna herself and the fans. In Madonna's own words: "a retrospective of all the music that I've made throughout my career but it's also my way of saying thank you to all my fans who've supported my career through all these years." On top of that, there are two new bonus tracks: Celebration, which is the first single, released late July, and Revolver, featuring Lil Wayne, which is scheduled to be a late 2009/early 2010 single. For these songs, Madonna collaborated with Paul Oakenfold and DJ Frank E. Selected tracks appear on a single disc edition of the compilation. A double DVD spanning her videography was also released, titled Celebration Video Collection.
As an iTunes bonus track, fans were treated to It's So Cool, an outtake from the American Life sessions.
A separate version of the Celebration album was produced for Belgium, which does not contain the track Frozen, because a local composer claims the song plagiarizes one of his songs.
The hits that made the compilation are all remastered by Pat Kraus. For most songs, the original album versions or the single edits were used. Notable exceptions are Vogue, Like A Virgin, Open Your Heart, Borderline, Lucky Star, Crazy For You & Cherish, that are all based on the versions used on The Immaculate Collection. New edits were produced for Everybody & Express Yourself, the latter being the closest ever to the original video remix version. Also notable are the shorter intro of Dress You Up and the longer outro of Frozen. The 1998 single is included in a new edited form on the single disc edition.
Celebration debuted at the top of the UK album chart with sales over 77,000 copies, becoming her 11th #1 album, which equaled Madonna with Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most UK #1 albums. In the US it debuted at #7 with selling 72,000 copies in its first week, eventually getting certified Gold in December 2009 for shipping 500,000 copies. It also topped the charts in Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland & Italy. Worldwide, 2 million copies of the compilation were shipped. The sales of single and double disc editions are counted together.

"I'm going to kick your ass, but it's going to make you feel good". That's how Madonna introduced her 12th studio album Hard Candy. "The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness... And of course I love candy!" After her successful future disco record Confessions On A Dance Floor, she teamed up with some of the biggest names in today's hip hop scene: Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland & Danja. "I think Pharrell is a natural musician. I like his inventiveness - he would grab my acoustic guitar, which he couldn't play, but start playing percussion on it. He would find bottles and start playing them with spoons. [...] I can totally relate to Justin as a songwriter. We would sit down together and say OK, let's come up with a concept. What story do we want to tell? We would riff off to each other and play woth words. He likes to play with words and the rhythm of words and so do I. [...] I felt more introspective because I was writing with Pharrell and Justin. On Confessions, I just wanted to make a frivolous dance record, but with this one I had to dig deeper and go to a different place... For me, it's a true collaboration, intellectually and artistically." Madonna named Justin's second album FutureSex/LoveSounds as her main inspiration, which was produced by Timbaland & Danja.

The record was released worldwide on April 28th, 2008 (some regions received it on the 25th or the 29th). It is her last studio album released under Warner Bros. Records. A special edition of the album was released at the same time and the Japanese version contains a bonus track called Ring My Bell, which was also available for fans who pre-ordered the album on iTunes.

The lead-off single is 4 Minutes, which is a duet with Justin and was produced by Timbaland. The opening track Candy Shop, which was the inspiration behind the album title and leaked on the Internet in 2007 already, is one of Madonna's personal favorites. An early version of Beat Goes On also leaked but was later reworked, including a rap by Kanye West. 4 Minutes hit #1 pretty much everywhere, became Madonna's record breaking 37th Top 10 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified double Platinum in August 2008 for 2 million paid downloads. The second single is Give It 2 Me, produced by The Neptunes, which hit big in Europe. Third and final single is the beautiful ballad Miles Away, which was a moderate hit around continental Europe and became the best selling digital single of 2008 in Japan.

Hard Candy immediately became a huge success all around the world, reaching #1 in 27 countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and US. It debuted on the US Billboard 200 with 280,000 copies and became her 7th US #1 album, while in the UK Madonna simultaneously topped the albums and singles charts for the 4th time in her career, which is unmatched by any other female artist. Hard Candy is Madonna's 10th #1 album in the UK, the most among female artists. In the US, Hard Candy was certified Gold in June 2008 and its hard sales already passed 700,000 copies, while it reached Platinum in the UK (more than 300,000 copies sold). Worldwide sales are well above 3 million, which put it among the top 10 best selling albums of 2008.

Actress Stefanie Powers says that Madonna needs to make sure she’s got the right staff when she takes over Wild Ocean Farm. Powers used to own the Bridgehampton property, then known as another name, with her cousin, Geri Bauer, who sold the farm to Kelly Klein in 2000.
'I hope she’s got some good people,' says Powers, pointing out that between caring for the horses and maintaining the property there is 'a lot to keep on top of.'
The 'Hart to Hart' legend, who plays polo, says Madonna should be happy to have it. 'It’s a wonderful place,' she says, adding that the indoor riding ring is extraordinary for its craftsmanship. 'I hope she’ll be happy,' she says.

Exclusive in this week’s Italian edition of Vanity Fair is the worldwide preview of Dolce & Gabbana’s new spring/summer 2010 campaign featuring pop icon Madonna.
Madonna’s private life is seldom out of the papers but this new Dolce & Gabbana campaign is unlike anything you have seen before. Exit the paparazzo, these shots by Steven Klein reveal much more than a grainy stolen picture, they showcase an intimate, real aspect to the ultimate icon’s life.

In keeping with Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection’s emphasis on Mediterranean heritage and classic Italian sensuality, the mood isn’t unlike a film from the days of Italian Neorealism. Madonna herself recalls the strong, raw sensuality of the iconic actress Anna Magnani – showcasing when soft sensuality meets bold authenticity.
When asked as to whether Madonna knows how to wash dishes, Stefano Gabbana replies “Certainly…she’s a very practical woman…” And does she actually eat spaghetti despite her most enviable figure? “Of course, says Stefano, and she can allow herself to with all the exercise she does!”

Madonna reportedly turned down the chance to perform a duet with Stacey Solomon on Saturday night’s X Factor.
According to The Sun, the pop superstar had been in talks to team up with Dannii Minogue’s act for the final, but her team eventually rejected the offer because she does not have new material or a tour to promote.
A source said: “We were told she wasn’t in promotion so it wasn’t going to happen. It’s a shame as she’d have been brilliant and given the show a real lift, especially with Stacey.”
Saturday’s episode saw Solomon perform with Michael Bublé. Meanwhile, Olly Murs sang with Robbie Williams and eventual winner Joe McElderry was partnered with George Michael.
The mother-of-one finished in third place at the weekend, leaving Murs and McElderry to battle it out in last night’s final showdown.

"When in doubt act like god". ABC 20/20 interview 2004 "One must dare to show what he wants. You have to go and ask for things rather than wait for them to happen." (Crillon Hotel, Paris, November 1998). "I'd like to think I am taking people on a journey; I am not just entertaining people, but giving them something to think about when they leave." [32] "One set of circumstances does not complete you. Maybe nothing ever does. So you work on your life and you work on your 'work' and you try to live every single day like it's your last. And you try to be better, to yourself and to others. I don't always succeed. But I try and it's my goal." [33] "I stand for freedom of expression, doing what you believe in, and going after your dreams." [34] [edit] On The Late Show with David Letterman (1994)

Madonna: "Is that a rug?" (referring to David Letterman's hair) Letterman: after the singer brands him a "sick ***CENSORED***": "You realize this is being broadcast don't you?" Madonna: "Listen, all you do is talk about my sex life on your show, so now you don't want to talk about my sex life when I'm on your show?!" Letterman: "I want to thank you folks for coming out for this run-through show. Thank you very much. This, of course, will never see the light of day. You won't miss a thing tonight." Letterman: "Oh, stop it! Will you stop? Ladies and gentlemen, turn down your volume. Turn down the volume immediately! She can't be stopped! There's something wrong with her!" Madonna: "I am a sick ***CENSORED*** I have my nose in everybody's sex life!" [edit] From Sex book

"Straight men need to be emasculated. I'm sorry. They all need to be slapped around. Women have been kept down for too long. Every straight guy should have a man's tongue in his mouth at least once." "Then there are guys who say 'I have never fantasized about being with a man.' They are lying. And the least offensive men I've been with in terms of their sexual politics and how they view me as a woman, have been men who have either slept with men, or at least kissed or held a man once. It opens up your thinking. You don't think that women are less-than you are." "My pussy has nine lives." "A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That's why they don't get what they want." "I think I have a dick in my brain. I don't need to have one between my legs."

"No man can have sex with anyone but me and since I don't have that kind of time on my hands, you might as well all be gay!" (Joked during Johnjay and Rich interview, 11 April '08). "I'll flirt with anyone from garbagemen to grandmothers." [29] "If you don't like my attitude, then you can ***CENSORED*** off, just go to Texas and suck George Bush's dick!" (Singing 'I Love New York' at Coachella Festival 2006) "When I came to New York it was the first time I'd ever taken a plane, the first time I'd ever gotten a taxi-cab, the first time for everything. And I came here with 35 dollars in my pocket. It was the bravest thing I'd ever done." [30] "For me, a male image that I'm really moved by is somewhere between of Oscar Wilde type of a male: the fop, the long hair, the suits, too witty for his own good, incredibly smart, scathingly funny - all that. But then my other ideal is more like the Buddhist monk - the shaved head, actually someone who sublimates their sexuality." Aperture Magazine 1999 "I am attracted to a thug. I like that quality, but I like the other side of it, too. Because all guys who go around behaving in macho ways are really scared little girls. So you have to look beneath the surface. There's a difference between my ideal man and a man that I'm sexually attracted to, believe me. Therein lies the rub." Aperture Magazine 1999 "Hollywood is about playing the game, and I can't think of any successful actresses who didn't play the game. there's a lot more renegades in the music business, from Patti Smith to Janis Joplin." Aperture Magazine 1999 "David Bowie has a huge influence on me because his was his first concert I went to see. I remember watching him and thinking I didn't know what sex he was, and it didn't matter. Because one minute he was wearing body stockings - the whole Ziggy Stardust thing - and the next minute he was the Thin White Duke in white double-breasted suits, and there's something so androgynous about him. And I think androgyny, whether it's David Bowie or Helmut Berger, that has really really influenced my work more than anything." Aperture Magazine 1999 "I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art." [31] "When I got my first paycheck, $5'000 or something. I bought a Leger and I bought a Frida Kahlo self-portrait, but I don't know which came first. But I remember buying it and I had just gotten married and it looked completely out of place in my house in Malibu." (When asked what was the first painting she bought). Aperture Magazine 1999 "I've always been kind of obsessed with Frida Kahlo, so I was really into the idea of getting something that belonged to her. And then from Frida Kahlo I found out about Tina Modotti and then I started collecting her stuff and Edward Weston, and one person always leads to another person with me, because for me it started with Diego Rivera, then it went to Frida Kahlo, then it went to Tina, and Edward and... Also, if you're into Picasso, and you want to find out about him and that whole area of art and European culture, then you start reading about Man Ray and the surrealists and Andre Breton, and all of a sudden you're in that whole world and you start having interests in other people. It's like a disease." Aperture Magazine 1999 "What else is there for me to conquer? Hopefully my ego. How will I know when I've succeeded? When I stop caring what anyone thinks." Q Magazine May 2008

    ·         "I pay attention to what’s going on around me. I’m always looking for new energy, new talent, new voices. When you do that I think it’s easier to come up with fresh ideas. It's not that my career has been based on surprising people, but it’s been about challenging myself — to constantly do new things that are going to broaden my own mind and in the process, hopefully, connect with other people." Parade magazine 24 June 2008
"Family is everything. Family comes first. It's not what I expected it to be, but nothing ever is." [28] (In Brilla Mare Ariake ads) "Now that I got everyone's attention, what do I have to say?" (VH1 Behind The Music) "I'm not going to compromise my artistic integrity." (Spoken in her documentary Truth or Dare.) "I went to New York. I had a dream. I wanted to be a big star. I didn’t know anybody. I wanted to dance. I wanted to sing. I wanted to do all those things. I wanted to make people happy. I wanted to be famous. I wanted everybody to love me. I wanted to be a star. I worked really hard and my dream came true." (Spoken at the beginning of the Virgin Tour concert video). I haven't got much time to waste
It's time to make my way
I'm not afraid of what I'll face
But I'm afraid to stay. (Lyrics from Jump) "The cross is a very powerful symbol and it symbolizes suffering, but it also is connected to a person who was loving and sharing and his message was about unconditional love. I tried to take a powerful image and use it to draw attention to a situation that needs attention. For me, we all need to be Jesus in our time. Jesus' message was to love your neighbor as yourself and these are people in need." Explaining the controversial crucifixion scene in her Confessions tour "I fear the future I wish for my children is at risk, so I'm taking action. Please join me. Our greatest risk is not terrorism, and it's not Iraq or the "Axis of Evil". Our greatest risk is a lack of leadership, a lack of honesty and a complete lack of consciousness. Unfortunately our current government cannot see the big picture. They think too small. They suffer from the “what's in it for me?” syndrome. The simple truth is that the current administration has squandered incredible opportunities to bring the world together, to promote peace in regions that have only known war, to encourage health in places that are ravaged with disease, to make us more secure by living up to our principles at home and abroad. The simple truth is that the policies of our current administration do not reflect what is great about America." From Madonna's open letter about the War in Iraq & the Bush administration "It takes a Real man to fill my shoes." Said during The VMA's '99, after number of men put a drag show dressed as her "Maybe I'm just a gay man inside a woman's body!" (Talking to Michael Parkinson in November '05 interview) "I don't care if you have a small dick, as long as you know how to use that stick." (From The Girlie Show) "Hey you! Don't be silly! Put a rubber on your willie!" (Poem written for AIDS P.S.A

"When I experienced what was going on first hand, I just got sucked into the whole thing. Thank God I did. I met some amazing people and, hopefully, I’ve changed the lives of a lot of children. Just as important, I think it’s been an incredible growing and learning experience for me." (About her work in Malawi). [21] "Not only does society suffer from racism and sexism but it also suffers from ageism. Once you reach a certain age you're not allowed to be adventurous, you're not allowed to be sexual. I mean, is there a rule? Are you supposed to just die?" [22] "Publicly humiliating someone for your own gain will only come and haunt you. God’s going to have his revenge." [23] "I hate polite conversation. I hate it when people stand around and go, 'Hi, how are you?' I hate words that don't have any reason or meaning. Also I hate it when people smoke in elevators and closed in places. It's just so rude." [24] "I don't take drugs. I never did. All the feelings that drugs are supposed to produce in you - confidence or energy - I can produce naturally. The only problem is going to sleep. But I never take pills... I drink herbal teas." Time magazine 27 May 1985 "I think that life is a paradox and you have to embrace that in your work and your belief systems... you can't be a literalist, and that's the trouble that people always find themselves in. That's why people always hit a wall with any of my stuff, because you can't take it literally." Dazed & Confused magazine 29 February 2008 "One of my all-time favourite poets is Charles Bukowski. I think he's the coolest guy in the world." [25] "I'm not a feminist, I'm a humanist." (On Stage and On The Record 2003) "Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion." [26] "That consciousness is everything and that all things begin with a thought. That we are responsible for our own fate, we reap what we sow, we get what we give, we pull in what we put out. I know these things for sure." Talking about Kabbalah "I am because we are. We all bleed the same color. We all want to love and be loved." About her documentary I Am Because We Are "Be strong, believe in freedom and in God, love yourself, understand your sexuality, have a sense of humor, masturbate, don't judge people by their religion, color or sexual habits, love life and your family." From The Great Rock 'N' Roll Quote Book [27] "Every time I do a show, I die a little bit, but no shit is worth doing unless you're willing to die for it." From Madonna Confessions book by Guy Oseary

[3] "To rule the world." When asked what she wanted to do, on "American Bandstand". [4] "A lot of people are just really confused by me; they don’t know what to think of me, so they try to compartmentalize me or diminish me. Maybe they just feel unsafe. But any time you have an overtly emotional or irrational, negative reaction to something, you’re fearing something that it’s bringing up in you." [5] "Life's too short to be bitter, I'm too short to be bitter." [6] "beauty is where you find it." (Lyrics from Vogue) "Absolutely no regrets." (Lyrics from Human Nature) "Better to live one year as a tiger, then a hundred as sheep." [7] "I love horses. I think I may have been one of Henry VIII’s knights in another life, riding through a great forest." [8] "I was sacked from Dunkin' Donuts for squirting the donuts jelly all over the customers." About working in Dunkin' Donuts in New York before becoming famous. [9] "I just like the idea of pills. I like to collect them but not actually take them. When I fell off my horse, I got tons of stuff: Demerol and Vicodin and Xanax and Valium and Oxycontin, which is supposed to be like heroin. And I'm quite scared to take them. I'm a control freak." [10] "Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another." (Lyrics from Justify My Love) "Rejection is the greatest aphrodisiac." (Lyric from "Forbidden Love", Bedtime Stories) "I'm tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a ***CENSORED***, okay." [11] "I wanted to be a boy when I was growing up because I was in love with all of the male dancer I know and they were all gay. And I thought, Well, if I was a boy, they'd love me. So I got into role-playing then. That's where it began. I remember when I was still in high school, I had cut my hair off really short, and I was totally anorexic - I had no boobs - and I would dress like a boy and go to gay clubs and my goal was to trick men into thinking I was a boy." [12] "I have the most perfect belly button. When I stick my fingers in it, I feel a nerve in the center of my body shoot up my spine." [13] "I liked my body growing up and I wasn't ashamed of it. I liked boys and didn't feel inhibited by them. Maybe it comes from having brothers and sharing a bathroom. The boys got the wrong impression of me at high school. They mistook forwardness for promiscuity. When they don't get what they want, they turn on you. I went through this period when all the girls thought I was loose and the boys said I was a nymphomaniac. The first boy I ever slept with was my boyfriend and we'd been going out a long time." Time magazine 27 May 1985 "I'm not interested in being Wonder Woman in the delivery room. Give me drugs." [14] "She never had public favor; it was a bit like the Hillary Clinton thing. She did all the right things for her country, but she wasn't ultimately revered. So she had a conversation with her confidant-adviser. She asked him, when have they ever looked up to or idolized a woman? Only one, he told her, the Virgin Mary. So she said, Then I will become like the Virgin Mary, and she did. She created a facade for herself; she stopped having lovers; she became like a virgin. She became sexless, and painted her face in a white alabaster way, and turned herself into an icon that was untouchable and sexless, and then she had everybody's respect." About Queen of England, Elizabeth I in Aperture Magazine 1999 "Next time you want pussy, just look in the mirror, baby" (Lyric from "Waiting") "Most priests are gay." (Said in I'm Going to Tell You a Secret) "Come on girls! Do you believe in love? Cause I got something to say about it." (Lyric From Express Yourself). "Phallic symbols. You know Catholics. I used to draw people naked all the time in my art class and my nun teachers used to tell me I had to put clothes on them. So I just drew lines around their bodies. See-through clothes." (When asked what she used to draw as a kid). [15] "Fame is a by-product. Fame is something that should happen because you do work that speaks to people and people want to know about your work. Unfortunately the personality of people has taken over from the work and the artistry and it's this thing now that stands on its own. I don't think one should ever aspire to being famous." [16] I have a cage
    It's called the stage
    When I'm let out
    I run about
And sing and dance and sweat and yell
I have so many tales to tell
I like to push things to the edge
And inch my way along the ledge
I feel like God, I feel like shit
    The paradox, an even split
    It's just a job, I always say
    I should be grateful everyday
Sometimes I think I just can't do it
But I persist and I get through it
And I console myself each night
At least my cage is filled with light. Short poem from I'm Going to Tell You a Secret "I must have been Japanese in a previous life. I'm pretty sure I was a warrioress. I can't explain it, I just know. I'm good at fighting - fighting with a big sword." [17] "This is a historical evening. This is ***CENSORED*** important evening... We are lucky to be sharing it with each other. This is the beginning of a whole new world. Open your ***CENSORED*** head!" Madonna Onstage in San Diego on election night, congratulated President-elect Barack Obama before a giant projected backdrop of an Obama campaign poster that read, “WE WON.” It ended with Madonna getting the crowd to chant “We are one!” [18] "If we can elect an African American as president, we can support gay marriage! Defeat prop 8! We will not give up!" [19] "One is that we are all responsible for our actions, our behavior, and our words, and we must take responsibility for everything we say and do. When you get your head wrapped around that, you can no longer think of life as a series of random events - you participate in life in a way you didn't previously. I am the architect of my destiny. I am in charge. I bring that to me, or I push that away. You can no longer blame other people for things that happened to you. The other is that there is order in the universe, even though it looks like chaos. We separate the world into categories: this is good and this is bad. But life is set up to trick us. It's a series of illusions we invest in. And ultimately those investments don't serve our understanding, because physicality is always going to let you down, because physicality doesn't last." Madonna’s painful brush with horse riding has clearly not put her off the sport. The Material Girl is splashing out $10 million on a 30-acre horse farm in the ritzy Hamptons, some reports claim.
The singer is reportedly buying Wild Ocean Farm in Bridgehampton, New York, from fashion designer Calvin Klein’s ex-wife, Kelly Klein, who used the farm’s indoor and outdoor rings to train show horses. There is no house on the farm, just accommodation for a groom.
The star is also thought to be trying to buy 24 acres of a neighboring property on which to ride, for another $2.4 million. The purchase comes just months after she spent $32 million on a new townhouse in Manhattan’s swanky Upper East Side.
Madonna suffered a broken collarbone, a broken hand and three cracked ribs when she fell while out riding at her English estate in August 2005.

    66. Madonna — “Music”
Despite all the new pop starlets out there trying to jump her train, Madonna definitely was not slackening the pace. When she dropped “Music,” she was older than Britney and Christina combined, yet she took them to school with vintage electro-boom, Eurodisco flourishes from French producer Mirwais, and her own inimitable sass.
