Lady Gaga Sweeps ECHO Awards in Berlin
Pop star Lady Gaga swept the ECHO German music awards at Berlin on Thursday, bagging three trophies.
The 23-year-old singer won in the categories Best International Female artist, Best International Newcomer of the year and Hit of the Year National/International for Poker Face, Aceshowbiz reported.
Although she did not attend the award ceremony, Gaga pushed aside the likes of Beyonce Knowles, Whitney Houston, Marit Larsen and Pink and emerged as the biggest winner.
Singer Robbie Williams won the Best International Male Artist, beating his contenders David Guetta, Mark Knopfler, Milow and Bruce Springsteen. When he came onto the stage to collect his trophy from German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, the Take That's former member showed off his football skill by kicking a ball to the audience.
Rock band Green Day was named Best International Rock/Alternative/Heavy Metal Act, topping Billy Talent, Kings of Leon, Mando Diao and Placebo.
