Q: When will Madonna release a new album? A: Madonna's most recent album release was the compilation album Celebration, released in September 2009 as her final album under her contract with Warner Brothers Records. She's set to release at least 3 studio albums under Live Nation. Since Madonna usually takes about 2,5 years between studio albums, the next one is expected sometime in 2010. Q: When will she go on tour again? A: In 2008 and 2009, Madonna visited Europe, North America and Latin America with her Sticky & Sweet Tour. Three more Madonna tours are expected before 2017, as defined under her Live Nation contract. Q: Which tours are available on DVD? Will the Re-Invention Tour and the Sticky & Sweet Tour be released? A: The following tours are available on DVD: The show in Turin, Italy of the Who's That Girl Tour is available on the DVD "Ciao Italia: Live from Italy". The show in Sydney, Australia of the Girlie Show is available on the DVD "The Girlie Show - Live Down Under". The show in Detroit, US of the Drowned World Tour is available on the DVD "Madonna - Drowned World Tour 2001". The show in London, UK of the Confessions Tour is available on the DVD "Madonna - The Confessions Tour". The show in Buenos Aires, Argentina of the Sticky & Sweet Tour will probably be released on DVD early 2010. An exact release date has not been announced yet. It is set to be a CD/DVD release under Live Nation. Since Live Nation is not a record label, the distribution will still happen in collaboration with Warner. What about the other tours? The Virgin Tour was released on VHS but was never converted to DVD. The Blond Ambition Tour was released on laser disc but was never converted to DVD. The only DVD quality tour footage can be found on the documentary Truth or Dare. The Lisbon, Portugal show of the Re-Invention Tour was planned to be recorded by Hamish Hamilton for a DVD release. However, due to a dispute between him and Madonna, this recording never happened and he filed a lawsuit against her. This also explains why the show was never broadcast on TV. There's some footage of the Lisbon show, shot by Christian Lamb (Burning Up and Die Another Day have surfaced online), but this was mainly meant for the venue screens and is not sufficient for a DVD release. Instead, there was the DVD release of the documentary I'm Going To Tell You A Secret, which includes tour footage by Jonas Akerlund, mostly from the show in Paris, France. So will this show ever be released on DVD? We don't know. But due to the many fan requests, Madonna's manager Guy Oseary said in January 2009 that there are currently no plans to release the DVD, but it will come out "someday". Q: Do you have any info on Madonna's dancers? A: You can find the names of Madonna's tour dancers in the Tour section. That section also has many pictures that include her dancers. Q: Where can I buy merchandise for Madonna? A: In the Mad-Eyes shop you can find CD's, DVD's, books and posters for Madonna. Q: Which movies has Madonna appeared in? A: Check her filmography here. Q: How many records has Madonna sold worldwide? A: The exact number is unknown but it is estimated that Madonna has sold more than 180 million albums and 80 million singles worldwide. Therefore, she is considered as the best selling female artist in the world. |
