Avril Lavigne: Madonna is my idol
Avril Lavigne wants to be the new Madonna and follow her idol by having a career which lasts for decades. The Canadian singer has set her sights on matching 52-year-old Madonna's career longevity.
Avril, 26, said: "I definitely can see myself still being out there in 20 years' time. I want to be around the way Madonna has done it. She's had her life but still maintained her career throughout."
While she not nearly in the same league as Madonna yet, Avril has had enormous success. Her first three albums all went to No.1 in the UK and Let Go sold 16 million copies worldwide. The singer's comeback single What The Hell is out next Monday. Goodbye Lullaby will be in shops on March 7.
