Lady Gaga turns twenty-four
March 27, 2010
Lady Gaga turns twenty-four tomorrow, March 28th. Since when does someone having a birthday qualify as news? By our measure, in the year that’s played out since her previous birthday, no artist has had as much of an impact on the direction of music and the pop culture scene in general as she has. Her meteoric rise is only amplified by the speed at which it’s taken place; in fact, when Lady Gaga appeared on the cover of our magazine fourteen months ago, the most common reaction among our own readership was “Who is that?” – a notion that seems comical here in 2010.
To mark the occasion, Gaga was posted a typically bizarre photo of herself to Twitter (pictured above), with the equally cryptic caption “Nothing like a communist-red teacup to make for the perfect Birthday gift. Last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.”
Lady GaGa appeared on the cover of Beatweek Magazine in January 2009, in her first-ever magazine cover appearance; her accompanying interview can be read in full on Beatweek.com.
Jason Derulo, who toured alongside Lady GaGa on a previous leg of the tour, spoke about his Monster Ball experiences in Beatweek’s March 9th cover story
