Not as though we had doubts that the upcoming all-Madonna episode of "Glee" would be anything short of epic, Jessalyn Gilsig (who plays Will Schuester's, er, misunderstood estranged wife Terri) confirmed to us that it is, in fact, "sick." The buzz building around the episode has gotten so big, they've already opted to release the episode's soundtrack! "Glee: The Music, The Power of Madonna" is set for an April 20th release (the show itself finally returns on April 13th), but is already on pre-sale on Amazon.com.
The seven-song album features eight Madonna songs (we see a mash-up!) including, "Express Yourself," "Borderline," "Open Your Heart," "Vogue." "Like a Virgin," "4 Minutes," "What it Feels Like for a Girl" and "Like a Prayer." We've already heard a sneak peek of New Directions take on "Express Yourself" in last month's promo (not to mention a glimpse at Sue Sylvester donning Madge's cone bra) but it will be exciting to hear who else took on the iconic pop star.
While there's no surprise that classics such as "Vogue" and "Like a Virgin" made the cut, who knew the Justin Timberlake duo "4 Minutes" would get its own "Glee"-ful cover?
The cover of the album, which pays homage to Madonna's 80s look (the lace glove! the stacked bangles!), is fitting considering most of the songs are from Lady Madonna's earlier work. Heck, we already got a taste of the "Glee" gang's take on Madonna (remember Quinn's "Papa Don't Preach" ballad?), we mentally pre-ordered this album quite a while ago.
Will you be picking up the "Glee" Madonna album, Gleeks? Which other songs do you wish they had taken on for the episode?
