 25 years ago today, Madonna reached the top spot of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with "Like a Virgin". In its sixth week on the chart, the first single from the album with the same name became the first of Madonna's 12 number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 so far. Speaking about the song in his exclusive MadonnaTribe interview, songrwriter Billy Steinber says: "When "Like A Virgin" reached #1 and stayed there for 6 weeks, Tom (Kelly) and I were ecstatic. It was a dream come true." "Like A Virgin" hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on December 22, 1994, and hold the spot for six weeks. |
