"My family and I are on our way to Malawi to attend the ground breaking ceremony for Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. The ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. on the future site of the Academy.
Our vision for the school is to empower girls to become Malawi's future leaders. Our goal is to teach them to challenge themselves, serve their local communities and develop their country. We created this vision
Madonna arrived in Malawi today to visit the girls school she is building in the impoverished country where she adopted two children, an official for the star's charity said.
She was accompanied by her four children - Lourdes, 13, Rocco, 9, and the Malawian-born Mercy, 3, and David, 4.
The official said Madonna would take part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the school on Monday.

Madonna will visit Malawi on Sunday to lay the foundation stone of a multi-million dollar girls' school she is building, her charity Raising Malawi told Reuters.
She is due to arrive on Sunday and attend a brick-laying ceremony in Lilongwe on Monday. The school is expected to cost about $15 million.

A woman who lives in an apartment above Madonna in Manhattan has complained to the New York State Supreme Court about the pop star rehearsing to loud music.
Karen George said in papers that the star and 'her invited guests repeatedly dance and / or train' to 'unreasonable high decibel amplified music'.
She is suing the management company of the Manhattan building, saying it has failed to act on her complaints.
Spokeswomen for the management company and Madonna have declined to comment.
